Benchmarking & Building Performance Ordinances

March 19, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Virtual Event

In recent years, cities, counties, and states across the U.S. have enacted ordinances that require building owners to disclose their energy consumption and other environmental data. Many jurisdictions have taken it further by implementing energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emission standards. These ordinances, such as Local Law 97 in New York City, BERDO in Boston, and Energize Denver, shape the future of green buildings and commercial real estate. This webinar will provide an overview of the current landscape of benchmarking and building performance ordinances across the U.S., with practical guidance to help property owners, managers, and other stakeholders prepare for compliance while expanding their sustainability and energy management practices.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will gain an understanding of:

  •  What benchmarking and building performance ordinances are and how they work
  • Key similarities and differences between ordinances across the country
  • What property owners and managers need to do to comply with these laws
  • The impact of these laws on buildings and the future of sustainability in the real estate industry

This webinar can be self-reported for one free general hour of LEED, WELL, and/or AIA continuing education.
