SUMMARY:Unlocking the Power of Data: Advancing Environmental and Climate Action in California’s TK–12 Schools
DESCRIPTION:California’s TK–12 schools represent a powerful leverage point for driving environmental and climate progress\, and new data is revealing where the greatest opportunities lie. In this session\, you’ll explore a first-of-its-kind\, equity-informed database developed by Ten Strands in collaboration with UndauntedK12 and UC Berkeley’s Data Science Discovery Program. This innovative tool tracks environmental and climate literacy\, as well as campus action indicators\, across school districts\, covering LEED alignment\, climate hazards\, bond measures\, and more. Discover how this data can inform ESG-aligned decision-making\, support green building initiatives\, and shape future strategies for the green schools movement. You’ll also discover ways to engage with the project and contribute to its next evolution. \nWhat You Will Learn: \n\nInterpret key indicators from the Data Initiative for Environmental and Climate Action in California’s TK–12 Schools\, including campus-level data relevant to LEED certification\, energy use\, climate hazards\, and environmental equity.\nIdentify three ways the dataset can inform green building partnerships and ESG-aligned strategies in the education sector\, including guiding investments\, bond measure planning\, and facility upgrades.\nAnalyze how school-level environmental progress aligns with broader municipal or regional sustainability goals and recognize the role of schools as leverage points for systemic climate action.\nApply the data tool to uncover high-impact opportunities for collaboration or project development in underserved school communities and explore how to contribute to or request future data enhancements\n\nThis webinar can be self-reported for one free general hour of LEED\, WELL\, and/or AIA continuing education. \n\n\n\n\n\n Register
